Volunteers are contributing to the maintenance of our park. We manage the formal flower beds around the park, as well as planting, cutting back and tidying in the woodland area.
The volunteers meet every Wednesday 10.00-12.00, followed by coffee and a chat.
We meet in the compound behind the BMX track where we store tools provided by the council. You will spot us in our hi-vis yellow jackets during the morning if you’d like to talk to someone and find out more.
Recent projects:
Renovating and planting the long border at the Cliveden Road entrance (shrubs/ tulips etc).
Laying the hedge between the car park and the cricket/ football pitches. We also planted several hundred new hedging whips so the hedge will re-grow with a mix of wildlife friendly plants.
Renovating the pond in the wildlifearea, and also digging a new pond so dogs have their own pond to get muddy in!
Laying paths through the woods.
Creating a wildflower meadow next to the compound.
Planting hundreds of trees and spring bulbs plus new flowering shrubs in the borders.
Painting the gates, benches and parts of the cafe building.
There are lots of jobs to suit all interests and levels of fitness, and we are a friendly bunch who can help you learn the countryside skills needed. Tools and PPE are provided.
